In Ayurveda, how can you rebuild enamel for sensitive teeth?
Enamel is the outer covering of the tooth that is visible outside. Any erosion in the enamel leads to hypersensitivity of the tooth that makes one difficult to take hot and cold foods. Sometimes it may be painful too.
Regular brushing of teeth with proper toothbrush and toothpaste prevents bacteria from causing any damage to the enamel. Ayurveda stresses the maintenance of oral hygiene by
- Regular brushing of teeth twice a day by herbal tooth powders that include neem, Pongamia, Pinnata, etc. (Dasanakanthi Churnam can be used instead)
- Oils like sesame oil can be kept in the mouth for a few minutes and gargled. This soothes the enamel.
- Scraping the tongue by tongue scrapers helps reduce the stagnation of bacteria in the mouth.
